Working with existing houses to create more open flowing spaces is often the primary driving force with extension projects. Remodelling the old house both externally and internally will give an existing property new life and transform its function both practically and aesthetically.
The Practice was asked to create a completely new architectural character for this house on the northern side of St Albans. The side and rear extensions combined with the complete refreshing of the elevations resulted in a crisp 1920 art deco style of house.
The brief for this property extension in Jennings Road, St Albans, was to take a detached house over three floors and extend it to the side and rear to create a more balanced twin fronted property with a large kitchen dining space to the rear.
Located in the centre of Harpenden, a carefully considered two storey front extension has been added to this family home. In this case, making the extension blend completely with the architectural character of the original was the intention.
This large family house located on the edge of Harpenden benefitted from large two storey front and side extensions. The internal layout was also re organised and refurbished to give a more open, airy and contemporary feel.
Howard Pease Architects were asked to extend this handsome house in the centre of Harpenden with large two storey side and rear extensions as well as a single storey rear addition. The top lit single storey extension brings light into the middle of the house via a striking double height light well feature.
The Practice was instructed to refurbish, extend and modernise throughout this attractive five bedroom house in Station Road in the centre of Harpenden. The split level open plan kitchen dining family room is the part of the home where the family spend most of their time, having large bifold doors opening into the rear garden.
Even a modest semi detached house can benefit from a two storey rear extension where the interior layout is completely rearranged and reorganised. This was the case here with our project in central Wheathampstead where the refreshing of the elevations had also given the house a bright new appearance.
A large Edwardian semi-detached home just off the high street in the centre of Harpenden required a radical architectural reappraisal and the house was reconfigured on the first and second floors to create a master bedroom suite, a large open-plan kitchen dining and family room space that opened onto a re-lansdscaped back garden.
