There’s something uniquely powerful about a hand drawn sketch and this is where many of my designs begin. Before any lines are drafted in CAD or rendered in CGI there is usually a moment of pencil on paper.
The ability to sketch by hand becomes especially invaluable in the early collaborative design stages. When I am sitting across the table with clients, being able to draw in real time helps turn ideas into something they can see and respond to immediately. It creates a shared sense of vision, clarity and often excitement, as their home starts to take shape in front of their eyes.
Sketching does not replace technology, it compliments it, allowing creative design while ensuring it’s robust and buildable.
