This project posed the challenge of how to extend a neglected 1970s house situated within the Green Belt. Strict limitations on floor area initially seemed to constrain the possibilities. However, by skilfully combining permitted development rights with targeted planning approvals, we crafted a design that not only met the council’s criteria but also exceeded the client’s expectations.
This thoughtful navigation of the planning process reflects our deep understanding of how to unlock the full potential of even the most sensitive sites.
The brief called for a bold reinvention of both the exterior and interior. The transformation is striking. Vertical black larch cladding, a slate roof, black aluminium windows and contrasting panels of warm cedar have given the house a fresh, contemporary identity. Internally, the entire layout was reimagined.
What was once a disjointed and unworkable footprint is now a coherent, flowing sequence of spaces, perfectly attuned to the rhythms of modern family life.
